Morning surprise

Early in the morning on Valentine's Day, my dog wanted to go out. When I opened the front door the most beautiful sunrise almost knocked me over - there were clouds streaking across the tree line, and an amazing wash of pink and blue glowing all across the sky. The horizon was alive and bursting with color. I stepped back in surprise and awe. It was as if God said at my door, "ta DA!! Good morning! I'm HERE and I LOVE you!!" All I could say in response was, "Wow..."

The Lord shared that sunrise with me in a very special way - he bowled me over with a Hobbes-like pounce, full of joy and happiness and humor. Our spirits met, and creature and Creator shared a jubilant embrace. It was no small thing either that he chose to pop in with such a grand gesture on Valentine's Day ~ the One I love most gave me the most beautiful thing I could cherish and enjoy that day: his own work. He reminded me of how much he loves us all and wants us to come Home to him.
